Founder – Alan MacNaughton, P.Eng.
Alan brings over 20 years of experience in power system operations, planning, and compliance, with a career spanning senior roles across major utilities and system operators in Eastern Canada, including Nova Scotia Power, New Brunswick System Operator, and New Brunswick Power.
He has led system planning, real-time operations, and compliance functions at the highest levels, with direct responsibility for transmission operations, reliability performance, and regulatory alignment.
As Director of the Energy Control Centre, Alan oversaw real-time system operations, outage coordination, and grid reliability across New Brunswick, leading operational teams through both routine conditions and major system events.
As Executive Director of System Operations, he provided oversight of system operations, market coordination, and compliance programs, leading modernization initiatives including control room technology upgrades, operational procedure development, and planning alignment with evolving reliability requirements.
In his role as Senior Corporate Compliance Engineer, Alan led NERC and NPCC compliance programs, including audit preparation, internal control development, and cross-functional implementation of reliability standards.
He has also contributed at the regional level as a member of the Board of Directors for the Northeast Power Coordinating Council (NPCC) and the Eastern Interconnection Data Sharing Network (EIDSN), supporting cross-border reliability coordination and industry data-sharing initiatives.
